SIP trunks for legacy PBX and key systems

Your phone system still works. Keep it, retire the aging lines behind it, and connect it to modern SIP trunking.

What is SIP trunking?

SIP trunking replaces traditional phone lines with voice service delivered over your internet connection. Your existing PBX connects to Resonance Telcom using SIP, the standard protocol for internet calling, and we connect your calls to the public phone network.

Instead of paying for a fixed bundle of copper lines, you pay for the number of simultaneous calls you actually need, and you can change that number from a portal in minutes.

The benefits of SIP trunking for businesses with legacy PBX and key systems

  • Keep your phone system

The PBX or key system you already paid for stays in place, along with the phones and features your staff know.

  • Replace aging PRI and copper lines

Copper and PRI services are being retired and getting more expensive. SIP trunks replace them on your internet connection.

  • Connect through a gateway

A SIP gateway or analog telephone adapter translates between your existing system and our SIP trunks.

  • Consolidate sites

Bring several locations onto one account, even when each one runs a different phone system.

  • A path to future upgrades

When you are ready for a new PBX, your trunks and numbers move with you. Nothing has to change on day one.

Why legacy system owners choose Resonance Telcom

  • You keep the investment you already made in your phone system.
  • You get off retiring copper and PRI lines on your schedule, not your carrier’s.
  • Our engineers help you pick the gateway or adapter that fits your system.

FAQs

Do we have to replace our PBX?

No. Most legacy PBX and key systems can connect to SIP trunks through a gateway, so the system and phones stay in place.

What is a SIP gateway?

A small device that converts between your phone system’s analog, T1 or PRI interface and SIP. Your PBX sees familiar lines; we see a SIP trunk.

Can we move to a newer system later?

Yes. When you upgrade, point your new PBX at the same trunk and numbers. There is no need to start over.
